Recent studies show three out of four students complete internships before graduation. The advantages of this form of applied learning speak for themselves. An R News internship will expose a student to all facets of television journalism, yet provide the student an opportunity to focus on specific areas of interest.

R News offers internships in the following areas:

• Assist in production of news stories

• Shadow photojournalists in the field
• Electronic news gathering
• Lighting & audio
• Non-linear digital editing

• Work with reporters and anchors to determine story form and content
• Assemble newscasts

•  Meteorology

• Shadow meteorologists
• Gather and interpret weather data
• Assist in preparing forecasts and graphics
• Use WSI weather graphics system

•  Sports

• Shadow sports staff
• Sports writing
• Monitor and log sports video
• Videotape editing
